He’d still look at the Chelsea job and go, “That’s a step up from Eintracht Frankfurt and Palace”,’ ex-CHELSEA winger Cole said on The Dressing Room Podcast.

‘But I think if you’re the Chelsea manager, unless they’re going to throw money at it, and I think the money has run out, whatever noises come out and whatever PR comes out, they’re isn’t going to be hundreds of millions spent this summer. It doesn’t make sense financially.

‘So they’ve got to find someone who can get a grip. Glasner is a good shout and he would want it.

‘Don’t even look at the top managers like Luis Enrique, if he’s leaving (Paris Saint-Germain). I threw Xabi Alonso’s name in because of how well he’s done, but even him…’

Would Glasner be a good choice?

At Palace, Oliver Glasner has shown adaptability, shifting systems and improving structure despite injuries and squad turnover. His FA Cup success has strengthened his reputation as a coach capable of delivering silverware under constraints.

For Chelsea, who have cycled through multiple managers in recent seasons, his pragmatic style and emphasis on organisation could bring much-needed stability. Joe Cole has also argued that Glasner fits a future where spending may be more controlled, valuing coaching over constant recruitment.

However, doubts remain about whether Oliver Glasner is the right long-term fit at a club like Chelsea, Reports suggest uncertainty around his ability to work within a highly collaborative ownership and sporting structure, which has challenged several managers before.

His preference for clear control and defined systems may clash with Chelsea’s evolving recruitment model and frequent strategic shifts. There is also the question of whether his counter-attacking approach fully aligns with the club’s expectation of dominant possession football.

Overall, Joe Cole’s suggestion of Oliver Glasner as a potential CHELSEA head coach is sensible in terms of pragmatism and immediate stability, but it is not without risk.

He could steady a turbulent environment and extract results quickly, yet questions about stylistic fit and structural compatibility mean he may be more of a transitional appointment than a long-term project leader.

MORE BIG CHELSEA NEWS AND GOSSIP

Top Read: Chelsea fans flood social media and tell board to hire WINNER now Rosenior has gone!

Most Read: Chelsea hold talks to sign absolute world class boss after OFFICIALLY sacking Liam Rosenior

Also Read: Chelsea to submit £100M offer – Premier League star will be great signing for Blues – Chelsea free to sign goal-machine

LOVE CHELSEA?
