3 May 2026 13:00 BST |<\/span> England legend Chris Waddle has told Thomas Tuchel to include Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in his squad for this summer\u2019s World Cup in North America.<\/p>\n Scott, 22, was called up to the senior team for the first time for England\u2019s internationals against Serbia and Albania in November, but he was omitted from the enlarged 35-man squad in March, despite his form for Andoni Iraola\u2019s side so far this season.<\/p>\n The former Bristol City midfielder, who helped England\u2019s U21 side win the European Championship last summer, has started 31 of Bournemouth\u2019s 34 Premier League fixtures this term and he netted his third league goal of the season during their recent 2-1 win over Arsenal.<\/p>\n Scott has played the entire 90 minutes in each of Bournemouth\u2019s last 14 league fixtures, during which time they haven\u2019t lost a single game, and when asked which outside shout should be included in England\u2019s World Cup squad, Waddle selected the Bournemouth star as one his options.<\/p>\n Speaking on behalf of Genting Casino, where players can enjoy a diverse selection of slots including Football Cash Collect Slot<\/b>Waddle told FootballTransfers<\/b>: \u201cI know Lewis Hall was in the squad last time, he\u2019s played very well at left-back for Newcastle and we do struggle for left-backs at England.<\/p>\n \u201cI like Adam Wharton at Crystal Palace. I like the way he plays in front of the back four, which would allow Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, for example, to go and join in higher up the field.\u201d<\/p>\n He then added: \u201cI like Alex Scott at Bournemouth. I think he\u2019s got better as the season\u2019s gone on and since he\u2019s been at Bournemouth he\u2019s developed into a better player. Now he\u2019s a fixture there. He was in and out of the team, but now he seems to be a permanent fixture.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s another player who likes that defensive type role.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you play international football, you need legs, don\u2019t get me wrong, but you\u2019ve got to have technical ability, you\u2019ve got to look after the ball. Those two guys (Wharton and Scott) can look after the ball.\u201d<\/p>\n England head into the tournament as one of the favourites for glory, following back-to-back second-place finishes at the Euros, but Waddle believes there are still two major issues in Tuchel\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n \u201cGoing forward, we\u2019ve got enough No.10s and we\u2019ve got enough wide players.
