Mikel Arteta can feel the hunger and desire in his team as we take on Atletico Madrid, one game from reaching the UEFA Champions League final.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A draw in the Spanish capital last week means that a winner in N5 will ensure passage to a first UCL final since 2006, during our final season at Highbury.<\/p>\n

When asked about the clash being one of the biggest matches in the history at our new home, the boss was clear on his excitement levels for the contest.<\/p>\n

“I can’t wait. I mean, I feel the energy in and amongst the team, our supporters, so these are the moments that we want to live together. <\/p>\n

“We had a lot of work as a club, as a team, after 20 years to be in this position again, and we are so hungry to get a game that we want tomorrow and go through to the final.<\/p>\n

“Huge excitement, really hungry. It’s difficult to express the desire to live that moment, especially with our people in front of them, they’ve been waiting for so long to have these kinds of nights. Push hard tomorrow, because it’s something amazing that\u2019s going to happen.<\/p>\n

“When you are in front of such an opportunity, it means that you are ready to deliver, and the team is going to go from the first minute to go and get that.”<\/p>\n

In our return to the Champions League in 23\/24, we were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Bayern Munich. Last year, we fell at the semi-finals to PSG. <\/p>\n

We’re now looking to go one step further and reach this year’s showpiece, and our manager is convinced we are to make that next step.<\/p>\n

Asked why he thinks we can make the final, he said: “What I see every single day. They are giving me the reason to believe, to trust these players and to be convinced that we can do it in any context against any opponent. This is football and tomorrow we’re going to have to prove it throughout the game.”<\/p>\n

We beat Fulham 3-0 in the Premier League at the weekend, a victory which Mikel believes is the perfect preparation for Tuesday’s showdown.<\/p>\n

“For us it’s great preparation. It’s the preparation and the schedule that we had. We maximised that in every term and the team has so much energy and is ready to go for more.<\/p>\n

“I think it left a really good taste for everybody, players, the team, the supporters. Now we have to use that momentum towards tomorrow because it’s exactly what we need.”<\/p>\n
