Morgan Gibbs White has revealed the extent of his brutal head injury suffered during Nottingham Forest’s 3-1 win at Chelsea on Bank Holiday Monday.<\/p>\n
Gibbs-White lasted just 20 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute at Stamford Bridge due to the incident.<\/p>\n
He sustained a bloody head after colliding with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after challenging for an aerial ball.<\/p>\n
The Nottingham Forest midfielder was through on goal in the 61st minute when Sanchez collided with him after beating him to the bouncing ball.<\/p>\n
Both players immediately crumpled to the floor and needed urgent medical treatment with their heads split open.<\/p>\n
After five minutes of medical care, both players left the field with their heads bandaged as Chris Wood replaced Gibbs White and Filip Jorgensen doing likewise for Sanchez.<\/p>\n

Sanchez gave an update about his wound too – which saw him have stitches in his forehead<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
After the match, Gibbs White took to Instagram to show off his wound – which detailed a lengthy number of stitches from his nose to above his left eyebrow.<\/p>\n
As well as that injury, his nose was swollen with a steroplast up his right nostril.<\/p>\n
Captioning his picture, which saw him give a thumbs up, the England international wrote: ‘Thanks for the messages. What a win, congrats T (Taiwo Awoniyi).’<\/p>\n
Shortly after Gibbs White’s Instagram story, Sanchez took to the same platform to show his injury.<\/p>\n
The Spain international had stitches applied to the top of his forehead and shared a picture of that, alongside a caption:\u00a0‘Seen that you came out worst (sic) than me, hope you are OK big man @morgangibbswhite.’<\/p>\n
That incident was the second time a clash of heads of happened during the match – with Chelsea youngster Jesse Derry having to go to hospital after colliding with Forest’s Zach Abbott just before half-time.<\/p>\n
Forest will be hoping their talisman will be fit for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg at rivals Aston Villa.<\/p>\n
The Reds lead 1-0 from the first leg, and speaking post-match on Monday, Forest boss Vitor Pereira is hopeful his captain will be available.<\/p>\n

Jesse Derry suffered a worrying head injury after an accidental collision with Zach Abbott<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
‘I don’t think the issue is concussion, he has a deep cut. But he is a fighter and I know he wants to play for sure.<\/p>\n
‘He’s in pain at the moment but I believe we will hopefully have Morgan in the next game, but let’s see.’<\/p>\n
Monday’s victory over Chelsea moves Forest closer to maintaining their top-flight status next season.<\/p>\n
They sit 16th in the Premier League on 42 points – six clear of 18th-placed West Ham with three matches remaining. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
