Updated: 4 May 2026 11:08 BST |<\/span> Como boss Cesc Fabregas insists that he will “of course” return to the Premier League amid links with Arsenal and Chelsea, but adds that he is in no rush to make a decision this summer.<\/p>\n The Spaniard has become one of the most in-demand coaches in European football after establishing Como as a Serie A powerhouse. Thanks to heavy investment from the club’s ownership, Fabregas and his team are threatening to disrupt the old elite.<\/p>\n Como are currently fifth in the Serie A standings after a scoreless draw with Napoli on Saturday. With three games remaining, the upstarts could still overtake Juventus and qualify for the Champions League in just their second season back in the top flight.<\/p>\n Fabregas’ exploits have put him on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs. Last summer, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig tried to appoint him, but they were unable to break the resolve of Como.<\/p>\n Although Fabregas was reportedly interested in taking a Bundesliga job, he was happy to stay put, given that Como is “his” project. He owns a minority stake in the club, alongside former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry.<\/p>\n Following Chelsea’s sacking of Liam Rosenior, Fabregas has emerged as a strong option for the Blues’ hotseat. A decorated former player, it is thought that the Spaniard would achieve what the Englishman failed to do: command the respect of the club’s difficult dressing room.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, there have also been claims<\/b> that Fabregas actually has his heart set on returning to Arsenal. His “long-term plan” is supposedly to replace Mikel Arteta at some point.<\/p>\n As for Como, they acknowledge that Fabregas won’t stay forever. Club president Mirwan Surwaso recently stated<\/b> that the former midfielder, who turns 39 today, is “free to go if he wishes.”<\/p>\n “If that makes him happy, that\u2019s him,” Suwarso told City AM<\/b><\/i> when asked about the Chelsea links. “You want your employees to stay with you for as long as possible, but at the end of the day, we don\u2019t own him and he\u2019s free to go to Chelsea if he wishes.”<\/p>\n Now, Fabregas himself has spoken about his future. In an interview with The Telegraph<\/b><\/i>he insisted that he will “of course” return to the Premier League one day, but that does not mean that he is chomping at the bit to leave Como.<\/p>\n Indeed, Fabregas says that he could snub Chelsea because of some advice Jose Mourinho gave him during their time together at Stamford Bridge. “The Premier League is the best league in the world,” he begins.<\/p>\n “I\u2019ve always been very, very clear about it. I felt it as a player, I feel it as a coach, as a fan. But Mourinho told me one day when I was at Chelsea: ‘I still have 30 years to work.’ So I could be here for 10 years, and you can still go to the Premier League in 12, 15 years.<\/p>\n “Football is so unpredictable, it changes in one second. One day, you are the best. The day after, you are the worst. So let\u2019s enjoy the moment. I like to enjoy the moment. It\u2019s beautiful what we are living here. Let\u2019s see what the future holds.”<\/p>\n Fabregas knows what he has at Como, and he cherishes it. The Indonesian owners have trusted the 39-year-old to build not just a squad but the entire club in his image. He helped to design everything, from the gym to the canteen and the pitches at the training ground.<\/p>\n “I\u2019m so happy and lucky that we have a president that trusts me a lot and has given me the confidence to go and take all the football decisions.
