Chelsea are searching for a new manager following their decision to sack Liam Rosenior.<\/p>\n

Several names are in the mix, but former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher thinks one big name can be ruled out due to his style of play.<\/p>\n

Oliver Glasner has enjoyed a hugely successful two years at Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

Last season saw the Austrian guide the Eagles to their first ever FA Cup following a famous Wembley win over Manchester City. The team then beat Liverpool to lift the 2025 Community Shield. <\/p>\n

Despite his remarkable stint in South East London, though, Glasner recently confirmed this season would be his last at Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Preparing for the next chapter in his career, the 51-year-old is now among the candidates to take the Stamford Bridge hot seat. <\/p>\n

Carragher, who spoke to Sky Sports, doesn’t think he’s the right man for the job, though, and has pointed to his favoured three-at-the-back style of play as the reason why.<\/p>\n

\n“I don’t see (Oliver) Glaser (as the next manager) because of the back three. I think that wouldn’t happen.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Three-at-the-back is a very niche style of play and only works when every position is occupied by players capable of fulfilling their role.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ruben Amorim’s failure to implement this approach at Manchester United led to his sacking and has not been adopted since. Chelsea won’t want to make the same mistake.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Although the Blues enjoyed massive success with this brand of football under Antonio Conte, they’ve taken a more traditional approach ever since the Italian departed in 2018.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Unlikely to rip up the foundations knowing they don’t have the personel required, BlueCo will probably prefer to find a manager who feels he can get a tune out of the players already in place.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It is for this reason the likes of Andoni Iraola and Cesc Fabregas remain the vacant position’s frontrunners. Former Barcelona boss Xavi has also emerged as a target but there are already concerns the Blues don’t align with the Spaniard’s vision.<\/p>\n
