Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez has been on Chelsea’s radar for several years, and according to TEAMtalk, club scouts were in attendance in Brussels to watch him in action. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He featured in the heart of defence as Brugge secured a crucial 3-1 victory over Anderlecht on Sunday to keep them top of the Jupiler League Champions\u2019 play-offs as they push for the title. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The report also suggests that a \u00a340 million asking price has been placed on the defender’s head, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa all closely monitoring his progress. <\/p>\n

Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez – who plays alongside Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo for Ecuador – will surely be delighted that his side could land one of their long-term targets this summer. <\/p>\n

Caicedo has already admitted that Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez is good enough to play for Chelsea when giving a glowing reference of his international teammate in 2025. <\/p>\n

That being said, someone with no experience of playing for a big club like Chelsea can’t be expected to transform a defence that is in dire need of leadership. <\/p>\n

The Blues have missed a calming influence in defence since Thiago Silva departed Stamford Bridge in 2024, and neither of their current options has led by example. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Trevoh Chalobah has been arguably Chelsea’s standout defender, but he needs someone with leadership qualities alongside him. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Therefore, while capturing Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez would be a solid long-term solution, he doesn’t fix their biggest issue in the short-term. Hopefully, the Blues can land the Ecuadorian stalwart and another defender who is currently in their prime. <\/p>\n
