West Ham threaten to be the laughing stock of London as the club\u2019s worst nightmare starts to look like a distinct possibility.<\/strong><\/p>\n

West Ham\u2019s 3-0 defeat at Brentford proved disastrous last weekend.<\/p>\n

\n

Spurs pulled off a shock win away at Aston Villa to leapfrog the Hammers, pushing Nuno Espirito Santo\u2019s side back into the bottom three.<\/p>\n

It means the Hammers are not in control of their own Premier League survival destiny with three games to go.<\/p>\n

Unholy trinity will make West Ham the laughing stock of London<\/h2>\n

The Irons now face title-chasing Arsenal just as they rediscover some form and then go to rejuvenated Newcastle before hosting Leeds on the final day.<\/p>\n

With Tottenham playing Leeds at home next, there is a chance West Ham could find themselves four points behind their bitter rivals with two games to go.<\/p>\n

It can\u2019t ever get any worse or more painful for Hammers fans than if they are relegated by Spurs.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s not the only thing West Ham have to worry about as they threaten to be the laughing stock of London with a worst nightmare scenario fast unfolding.<\/p>\n

West Ham\u2019s Spurs embarrassment<\/h2>\n

Tottenham are now in control of the battle for survival. <\/p>\n

West Ham have to hope they slip up in their remaining games against Leeds, Chelsea and Everton while they must then take advantage.<\/p>\n

Having been widely backed to survive at the expense of Tottenham \u2013 and many getting giddy at the prospect \u2013 being relegated by them would be crushing.<\/p>\n

West Ham could have dined out for years on dumping Spurs into the Championship. Especially after the north Londoners goaded the Hammers when they signed Mohammed Kudus from them last summer in the first deal between the two clubs for nearly 15 years.<\/p>\n

Instead, the Hammers now face the ignominy of demotion as a direct result of Tottenham showing more bottle than them when it mattered most.<\/p>\n

If Spurs send the Hammers down, they will never let them forget it. It would pale into insignificance compared to the ammunition West Ham had on Spurs after lasagne-gate.<\/p>\n

Frankly, it doesn\u2019t bear thinking about. So Nuno and his players have a chance to make themselves heroes forever if they can somehow turn things around against the odds.<\/p>\n

Arsenal and Rice rubbing salt into West Ham wounds<\/h2>\n

As if being relegated by Spurs wouldn\u2019t be bad enough, it could be Arsenal and former Hammers skipper Declan Rice who deliver the near fatal blow.<\/p>\n

West Ham host the Gunners in a monumental clash this Sunday with the league title and survival on the line.<\/p>\n

The stakes have not been higher for either club for decades.<\/p>\n

After being mercilessly taunted by Arsenal over the fact they lured away their homegrown captain Rice in that \u00a3105m deal three years ago, Hammers supporters have at least had the fact their former talisman had thus far failed to win a major trophy since he lifted the Europa Conference League with West Ham.<\/p>\n

That particular bragging right is in grave danger with Arsenal in the box seat for the title and making the Champions League final too.<\/p>\n

Now West Ham face the prospect of Rice and Arsenal sending them closer to the drop while simultaneously getting one hand on the ultimate prize of all.<\/p>\n

West Ham face ultimate Millwall insult<\/h2>\n

Just when you thought things couldn\u2019t get any worse, West Ham also face the very real possibility of being replaced in the Premier League by arch rivals Millwall.<\/p>\n

When the Hammers had the momentum to survive, there was excitement that the rivalry with Millwall could be renewed in the top flight next season as the Lions looked in with a chance of automatic promotion.<\/p>\n

But West Ham are now favourites to fall into the second tier again while Millwall are favourites to be promoted via the play-offs.<\/p>\n

The Hammers\u2019 hated adversaries finished third in the Championship, missing out on automatic promotion by two points.<\/p>\n

As a result they are rewarded with the \u201ceasier\u201d play-off game against sixth-placed Hull.<\/p>\n

The winners will face either Southampton or Middlesbrough in the final.<\/p>\n

If Millwall come up while West Ham drop, it would take years to live down.<\/p>\n

With serious financial problems mounting in east London too, there\u2019s no guarantee West Ham would bounce straight back.<\/p>\n

If this unholy trinity of scenarios transpire it will make West Ham the butt of jokes among three of their big London rivals.<\/p>\n

And Hammers fans will never forgive the current owners for having to live out this nightmare.<\/p>\n
