Chelsea youngster Jesse Derry has shared his first update after suffering a nasty looking head injury against Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

With Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho both left out of the squad due to knocks, Derry was handed his first Chelsea start.<\/p>\n

Derry had already made two appearances in the FA Cup this season, but this was the 18-year-old\u2019s Premier League debut.<\/p>\n

Jesse Derry provides injury update<\/h2>\n

It wasn\u2019t the debut Derry would have been looking for with the Blues putting in another poor performance as they lost 3-1, their sixth league defeat in a row.<\/p>\n

Things also ended badly for Derry on a personal level after a nasty clash of heads with Zach Abbot, which resulted in Chelsea being awarded a penalty.<\/p>\n

Derry received lengthy treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off and taken to hospital for precautionary checks.<\/p>\n

However, despite initial concern, Derry appears to be in good spirits and has provided an update on his situation.<\/p>\n

He took to Instagram and said:<\/p>\n

\u201cA dream come true to start at Stamford Bridge for my <\/span>Premier League <\/span>debut,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to thank all the <\/span>Chelsea <\/span>medical staff, everyone at St Mary\u2019s Hospital, my teammates, and all the fans for their great support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to be back playing in front of everyone very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
