Chelsea are looking at signing Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez, and doing so will bring in a significant upgrade to the pace of their backline.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blues are expected to invest again in centre-backs at the end of the season, after being frequently let down by their current crop.<\/p>\n

Chelsea keen on signing Joel Ordonez<\/h2>\n

Chelsea have previously sent scouts to watch Joel Ordonez at Club Brugge after Enzo Maresca was desperate to add a centre-back to the first team squad before this season.<\/p>\n

Now, according to TeamTALK, Chelsea are keen on signing Ordonez after another impressive season with the Belgian side.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old has featured in 42 games in all competitions, popping up with four goals. He completes more than 90% of his passes in the league, and has made 167 defensive contributions so far.<\/p>\n

The defender would instantly find a familiar face at Stamford Bridge in the form of Moises Caicedo. The pair are expected to line up together at the World Cup for Ecuador.<\/p>\n

Ordonez is quicker than Chelsea wonderkid Estevao Willian<\/h2>\n

He also was one of the club\u2019s quickest players in the competition, however as per UEFA\u2019s stats, Ordonez registered a higher top speed than the Brazilian.<\/p>\n

Pace has been an element the Chelsea defenders have been lacking this season, exposed greatly when they attempted to play a high line under Liam Rosenior.<\/p>\n

Doubts from Blues supporters will likely be based around his experience, with fans crying out for Premier League-proven players to be brought in this summer.<\/p>\n
