{"id":5104,"date":"2026-05-06T22:46:41","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T22:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=5104"},"modified":"2026-05-06T22:46:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T22:46:41","slug":"reds-enter-race-strongly-to-sign-pl-free-agent-ahead-of-spurs-chelsea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=5104","title":{"rendered":"Reds &#8216;enter race strongly&#8217; to sign PL free agent ahead of Spurs, Chelsea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Liverpool have now entered the race \u201cstrongly\u201d to sign Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi on a free transfer this summer, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>The Reds missed out on signing Marc Guehi late on last summer with Crystal Palace <strong>pulling the plug on a deal to sign the defender when he was having his medical<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liverpool<\/strong> did end up signing Giovanni Leoni from Parma but the Italy international picked up a season-ending injury in September to leave the Reds short at the back.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Gomez has provided the majority of cover to starting centre-backs Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk this season, while Liverpool have already lined up the signing of Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet ahead of the summer.<\/p>\n<p>But Liverpool are keen to bring in at least another centre-back this summer and reliable Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has claimed they are now in for Bournemouth\u2019s Senesi on a free transfer.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Fabrizio Romano\u2019s YouTube channel, Moretto said: \u201cWe\u2019re talking again about Marcos Senesi, the Bournemouth centre-back whose contract expires in June. We\u2019ve discussed him many times. He won\u2019t renew and will leave on a free transfer \u2013 Bournemouth already know this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Liverpool top scorers against Big Six: Gakpo level with Gerrard and Suarez<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had already mentioned quite clearly here that Senesi would stay in the Premier League. There has been and still is some interest from Italy, but he will remain in England. I\u2019m told\u2014and it\u2019s confirmed 100%\u2014that the Argentine defender intends to stay in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been performing very well at Bournemouth. His career was slowed by some significant injuries, but once he regained fitness and form, he\u2019s shown all his quality in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenesi will stay in the Premier League, and beyond the two clubs I already mentioned\u2014Chelsea and Tottenham, especially Tottenham, Liverpool have also entered the race quite strongly in recent days.
