Lampard\u2019s second stint was statistically the most difficult in the club\u2019s 118-year history, marked by a record-breaking string of early defeats and a struggle to find any rhythm. <\/p>\n He managed just one victory in 11 games, a 3-1 win over Bournemouth, leaving him with a win percentage of just 9%. <\/p>\n They’ve been hanging out together in London!<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Speaking to The Athletic after Coventry City\u2019s promotion to the Premier League, Frank Lampard has stated that he was unfairly criticised after his second spell at the club, pointing to other factors. <\/p>\n \u201cAfter Chelsea, I had a point to prove because I don\u2019t think any reaction to that was fair, and I\u2019m being honest, and I\u2019m as self-critical as anybody.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Chelsea period of six, seven weeks, I went into a club which was my club in effect, and it was completely different, the motivation had gone. Some players were not playing for different reasons, injuries, or they were going to move in the summer. It was a great, tight learning curve, that when those things were all going on, it\u2019s really hard to win football games. And when you are an interim manager, there\u2019s only so much you can affect in that short time.<\/p>\n \u201cI came out of it a little bit tougher, but with a little more clarity that if I\u2019m going to make my next decision, it has to be a really, really good footballing decision that I can affect positively. And then you just hope that if you work well, you can start answering those questions. But you can\u2019t spend your life trying to prove people wrong all the time because you won\u2019t prove everybody wrong. But it\u2019s not a bad drive to have in the back of your head.\u201d<\/p>\n The parallels between Frank Lampard\u2019s final days as interim boss and the current state of the Chelsea squad are striking. <\/p>\n Today, a similar situation haunts Stamford Bridge.
