Casemiro says Manchester United have a \u2018big problem\u2019 with Michael Carrick\u2019s future (TNT Sports)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Casemiro believes Manchester United have a \u2018big problem\u2019 with their decision over Michael Carrick\u2019s future as manager.<\/p>\n

United appointed Carrick on an interim basis in January following Ruben Amorim\u2019s exit and the 44-year-old has guided the club back into the Champions League with three Premier League games remaining.<\/p>\n

Carrick has lost just two of his 14 games in charge of United and that run of results has included impressive wins over Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.<\/p>\n

United are considering their options with Andoni Iraola, who is leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season, regarded as one of the strongest alternative candidates.<\/p>\n

But Casemiro believes Carrick deserves to stay on as United manager.<\/p>\n

\u2018The club has a big problem in that aspect, right?\u2019 Casemiro said in an interview with TNT Sports Brasil when asked about Carrick\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\u2018Because we know he came in as an interim manager, he came, he delivered, he had difficult games, he did very well, he\u2019s doing very well, he\u2019s a guy who knows the club, he knows what Manchester United is all about, he has class, he has the attitude of Manchester United, he\u2019s an incredible person, and he deserves it, he deserves to stay.<\/p>\n

\u2018If I were to give my opinion, he\u2019s a guy who deserves it. Knowing him day to day, you already say, \u2018this guy deserves it\u2019. He has class, he lives and breathes the club, he knows what the club is all about.<\/p>\n

\u2018So, for me, this guy has to stay at the club for more years because he deserves it, he really deserves he job.\u2019<\/p>\n

Speaking at his press conference on Thursday, Carrick insisted that he is \u2018calm\u2019 over his future at United and believes he has not taken a short-term approach with his decisions during his time at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019ve got eyes on finishing the season strongly as well,\u2019 Carrick said.<\/p>\n

\u2018So, I understand the question, I understand the timing of it, but from my point of view, right at this stage, it\u2019s just putting the boys in a place to finish the season strongly, and then, as I\u2019ve said all along, and I\u2019m calm about it, it\u2019ll get sorted out when it\u2019s going to get sorted out, some of it\u2019s out of my hands, so we\u2019ll see what happens.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think I\u2019ve said from the start, though, that I\u2019ve never approached a day here in terms of any short-term decisions. Whether that\u2019s different from the outlook of others, I don\u2019t know, but from mine and certainly the staff, I think we\u2019ve definitely made decisions for the longer term for the group and individually as players and how we treat them and try to help develop them, the squad.<\/p>\n

\u2018So, I don\u2019t think, really, it would change the approach for how I\u2019ve tried to go about things. Again, I understand that it might be for other people looking towards me maybe or towards us, whether that\u2019s players, whether that\u2019s supporters, whether that\u2019s you lot sitting here.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t know how that changes, but maybe we\u2019ll get to see, I don\u2019t know. But certainly, from my point of view, I think I\u2019ve done it, gone about it, in a way that I feel is the right way to do it.\u2019<\/p>\n
