Some are down due to poor form, others are trapped in legal or contractual limbo, and a few have simply been sidelined by a club that never stops recruitment.

When talent and trouble collide at Stamford Bridge

Mykhailo Mudryk remains the most tragic figure in the squad. The £61 million signing was hit with FA charges for breaching anti-doping rules in June 2025 and has already spent nearly 14 months away from the pitch. If CAS upholds a four-year ban, he could be out until December 2028, a timeline that would almost certainly force Chelsea to tear up his contract.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho’s £40 million move from Manchester United last summer has fallen flat. A single Premier League goal across his debut season is a poor return that echoes his final, difficult months at Old Trafford.

Chelsea are already looking for a buyer, though finding one is proving difficult given his reputation off the pitch. While River Plate have reportedly inquired about a loan, a permanent move away seems the most likely end to his short stay in London.

Manchester United have been told to immediately complete the signing of this Ex-Arsenal star

The goalkeepers, the loanees, and the forgotten men

Robert Sanchez faced heavy fire this season after committing more errors leading to goals than any other keeper in the league. This prompted the club to pivot to Filip Jorgensen as their new number one, but even that hasn’t been smooth. Jorgensen grew frustrated with his own lack of minutes and weighed up a January exit to protect his 2026 World Cup ambitions. Currently, neither man looks like a long-term solution.

Further up the pitch, Nicolas Jackson has effectively ended his time in West London by joining Bayern Munich on loan, a deal that includes an obligation to buy for roughly €65 million if specific conditions are met.

Elsewhere, 19-year-old academy product Tyrique George has already moved to Fulham in a £22 million permanent deal, though Chelsea did keep a sell-on clause. Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana, both currently out on loan, also seem to have reached the end of the road, with the club ready to sell if the right offer arrives.

Three mistakes Arsenal should avoid to win Premier League and Champions League

A squad reshaped beyond recognition

Chelsea have clearly decided to move on rather than wait for these players to find their feet. While the club lifted the Conference League trophy in Wrocław after beating Real Betis in May 2025, the domestic campaign was a mess, and the squad still needs an overhaul.

The sheer speed of Chelsea’s recruitment means players lose their place faster here than anywhere else in England. This group of eight is simply the latest collateral damage of that strategy. Whether it’s due to doping bans, attitude issues, or tactical shifts, Chelsea have already moved on; the summer window will just make it official.

More Chelsea Stories from Scorzo

[4

post-5618","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-chelsea
["GET
