Shumaira Mheuka\u2019s incredible personal season with the Chelsea U21s has seen him nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mheuka has 25 goals in all competitions this season, with 17 of those coming in as many games in Premier League 2.<\/p>\n

He went on a brilliant run earlier this season, scoring 12 goals in 11 games, sometimes leaving questions to be asked about why he hadn\u2019t been called up for any Premier League minutes throughout the campaign.<\/p>\n

Shumaira Mheuka and Harrison Murray-Campbell nominated for PL2 Player of the Season<\/h2>\n

Despite this, his individual brilliance has been recognised with an official nomination for the Player of the Season award in PL2, however he is not alone as the Chelsea representative.<\/p>\n

Centre-back Harrison Murray-Campbell has also been nominated for the award, likely due to his brilliant record in front of goal despite being a defender.<\/p>\n

In 18 league games, the youngster scored six goals and set up another four. this included a run of three consecutive games in the winter where he found the net.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Murray-Campbell is another who has seen no recognition from the first team setup. He has not been involved in a single matchday squad in any competition.<\/p>\n

Chelsea lost out on Rio Ngumoha to Liverpool after refusing to show him a pathway to regular first team football, they need to be careful to not repeat this mistake with two of their most promising youngsters.<\/p>\n

Other Chelsea youngsters pushing for first team chances<\/h2>\n

This may be the best time for some of the academy stars to push for opportunities in the first team, after Calum McFarlane showed he is willing to offer chances by starting Jesse Derry against Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

Ryan Kavuma-McQueen was handed his debut in the FA Cup against Port Vale, and could be in line for more opportunities due to the injury crisis amongst the club\u2019s wingers.<\/p>\n

Fixtures in the Premier League could be a great platform for these players before the end of the season, given the fact the club are going to miss out on the Champions League.<\/p>\n

However, there will be many looking for one last big league performance this season against Tottenham, with the possibility of helping them be relegated.<\/p>\n
