Manchester United and Chelsea both have their sights set on a move for Newcastle United ace Anthony Gordon \u2013 however, a team from the continent are threatening to throw a spanner into the works.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to a report from Sky Sports, Bayern Munich are interested in a move for the England international and could make an official transfer move for the player during the upcoming summer transfer window.<\/p>\n Columnist Christian Falk has gone as far to say that the Bavarian giants have offered Gordon a five-year contract ahead of the summer.<\/p>\n But why is Gordon being targeted by so many top clubs in the first place? Let\u2019s take a look at his stats from this season to find out why he\u2019s marquee target for some of Europe\u2019s biggest teams. <\/p>\n One may look at these stats and assume that Gordon has had a lacklustre season. He hasn\u2019t been at his best, but he has performed much better in the Champions League than he has domestically.<\/p>\n Gordon scored ten goals and notched up a pair of assists in 12 Champions League games this season \u2013 this is why he\u2019s so coveted at the moment.<\/p>\n Bayern\u2019s entry into the race to sign Gordon certainly set Chelsea and Manchester United back, but they aren\u2019t the only ones who\u2019ve been angling to try and snap him up.<\/p>\n According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are interested in a move for the player and have \u2018held talks\u2019 with his representatives.<\/p>\n Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the player \u2013 they were linked with a move for him as far back as his Everton days. <\/p>\n Meanwhile, Barcelona are also looking to bring Gordon on board, according to a report from RAC1 (via GOAL). <\/p>\n Additionally, Manchester City were briefly looking to sign Gordon during the January transfer window, but the Sky Blues\u2019 interest has seemingly cooled in the months that followed.<\/p>\n There is an obvious answer to this question \u2013 Chelsea have endured a woeful end to the season and are in need of reinforcements up top. A goalscoring winger who can also function as an out-and-out striker, bringing Gordon to Stamford Bridge could be just what the doctor ordered.<\/p>\n However, they aren\u2019t the only team that would benefit greatly from Gordon\u2019s arrival. Arsenal, for example, will be in the hunt for a new left winger \u2013 Gabriel Martinelli could leave the club in the summer, as could Leandro Trossard.<\/p>\n Additionally, Manchester United are in need of a natural left winger. Most of their best attacking players either play on the right or through the middle, so Gordon would be a welcomed addition to the squad at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n If Barcelona cannot secure the services of Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis, then Gordon would be a solid replacement \u2013 he would, however, have to compete for his spot with the excellent Raphinha.
