David Moyes says his future is at the bottom of his list of priorities with his focus solely on improving Everton while he has the chance to do so.<\/p>\n
The Blues boss will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer, a close season that is set to be another important period of transition for a club that is seeking to build on a year of progress.<\/p>\n
Yet while that could well lead to him influencing signings whose deals will extend beyond his current tenure, he said his position was at the back of his mind ahead of a run-in that could yet yield a place in Europe<\/u> and ahead of another transfer window that could prove pivotal.<\/p>\n

On the importance of resolving his long-term future on Merseyside, the 63-year-old said: \u201cIt is certainly at the back of the pile for me. I think by the time you get to this age you just keep going and if it doesn\u2019t work the next day then it doesn\u2019t work and you just go around it, so it is not a big situation where it is a contract I need or anything like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moyes, who has previously indicated he would be happy to extend his stay<\/u>instead said his focus was on the club he loves as he seeks to restore Everton\u2019s competitiveness to something akin to that of his first spell, when the Blues were regulars in Europe and pushed for Champions League, reaching that competition in 2005.<\/p>\n
The Scot, who inherited a club facing its fourth successive Premier League survival fight when he returned in January 2025, said: \u201cIf I want to do anything I want to do things for Everton – I want Everton to become better. I want us to have a better team, I want us to make sure that we’re building the atmosphere inside the stadium, that we are giving the supporters something to shout about, I’m more interested in trying to keep that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moyes said detailed conversations were yet to take place behind-the-scenes over the club\u2019s summer transfer plans. Everton are keen to explore the return of Jack Grealish<\/u> on another loan from Manchester City and will seek to address a number of positions, including the arrival of a specialist right back. They are also expected to review their situation up front, where Beto and Thierno Barry have eight league goals each but have both endured turbulent campaigns.<\/p>\n
Moyes said: \u201cWe’ve not really had any big conversations yet. No, nothing too deep, but I think that we have to continue to try to find a way of building again and going again. That would be my thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n
