Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch insists that the Reds players didn’t deserve to be booed off by supporters following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea.<\/p>\n
Dutch midfielder Gravenberch opened the scoring with a fine strike after just five minutes, before Enzo Fernandez equalised when his low free-kick snuck in at the Kop end.<\/p>\n
Reds fans were quick to make their displeasure clear when Arne Slot opted to take off Rio Ngumoha midway through the second half, replacing him with Alexander Isak, before many booed again after the full-time whistle.<\/p>\n
Responding to that second lot of jeering, Gravenberch told TNT Sports: “To be honest, we need them (the fans) behind us.<\/p>\n\nOPINION<\/span><\/label><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

The fans have to be behind us for the full 90 minutes because when they were behind us in the second half, we were pressing really well. We need them. Hopefully they wouldn’t do it again in the next two games.”<\/p>\n
Reflecting on the failure to hold onto the lead given to the Reds by his goal, Gravenberch continued: “Yes, of course we are (disappointed) because we have to share the points.<\/p>\n
“We wanted the three points but obviously they are a very good team, who play well here, so in the end I do think they deserved a point as well.<\/p>\n
“We created chances, with a couple coming from Dom (Szoboszlai). If we had been a bit luckier, those would’ve gone in. In the end, we didn’t make it so we are a bit disappointed.”<\/p>\n
Gravenberch added: “It hasn’t been a great season from us. There are still two games left so we have to try to win those to secure our Champions League spot.”<\/p>\n
