Many Spurs fans will also be aware of the club’s previous venture into the South American market when they signed Alejo Veliz.

Spurs Web first reported Tottenham’s interest in Subiabre during last summer’s transfer window, although it was nothing more than interest at the time, with nothing concrete developing.

However, things have slowly progressed over the past few months, with recent reports stating that Tottenham have accelerated their interest in the Argentine youngster, causing panic at River Plate.

<figcaption title="BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - APRIL 05: Ian Subiabre of River Plate reacts during a Torneo Apertura match between River Plate and Belgrano at Estadio Más Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti on April 05, 2026 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
