Chelsea interim boss Calum McFarlane is adamant his side were denied “a clear penalty” as they ended a run of six successive losses with a draw at Liverpool.<\/p>\n
Enzo Fernandez equalised an early Ryan Gravenberch opener to earn the Londoners a 1-1 Premier League draw during a dismal encounter on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Despite the lack of quality, both teams had goals disallowed in the second half and Liverpool twice struck the woodwork through Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk.<\/p>\n
And McFarlane was convinced a VAR check should have seen Jeremie Frimpong penalised for a foul on Joao Pedro inside the area that was initially waved away by referee Craig Pawson.<\/p>\n

“It was nice to have a good complete performance but when you come to these places it’s very difficult.<\/p>\n
“It could have gone either way at certain moments in the game, really. Probably being a little bit biased, we could have won the game. Enzo had a chance in the first half while Cucurella was getting into some good positions.<\/p>\n
“We had another marginal offside call (for the disallowed goal) and another marginal penalty call.<\/p>\n
“This club needs to win games of football and we haven’t done that.”<\/p>\n

“There were a lot of good performances and I was really pleased with Levi,” he said. “To play 90 minutes here after so long out, it shows his level of talent and quality and his mentality.<\/p>\n
