There has been much debate and conflicting reports about the future of Nuno Espirito Santo but he must be axed for the worst substitution in modern West Ham history against Arsenal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hammers look certainties for relegation after following up the 3-0 defeat to Brentford by losing to London rivals Arsenal.<\/p>\n

Not only did the defeat, courtesy of a scrappy Leandro Trossard goal on 82 minutes, push West Ham closer to the Championship but it gave Arsenal one hand on the Premier League title.<\/p>\n

When West Ham look back on this season there are a plethora of reasons the club is in this mess.<\/p>\n

Nuno must be axed for worst substitution in modern West Ham history <\/h2>\n

Nuno Espirito Santo has received a lot of credit for the team\u2019s improved performances and results since January.<\/p>\n

But it took the Portuguese far too long to get the team playing when he arrived in September.<\/p>\n

The Hammers then failed to deliver when it mattered most with a woeful performance in both boxes at Brentford and surrendering to Arsenal in what was a must-win game.<\/p>\n

West Ham made Leeds safe with this defeat and could now suffer the consequences with Spurs playing the Elland Road outfit at home on Monday night.<\/p>\n

A win for Tottenham would effectively put them five points clear of West Ham given their superior goal difference.<\/p>\n

So it would require West Ham to win their final two games and Spurs to lose to Chelsea and Everton.<\/p>\n

When all is said and done, though, West Ham\u2019s survival came down to moments. <\/p>\n

Moments like Mateus Fernandes missing the biggest chance of the season when through on goal with the score at 0-0 against the Gunners.<\/p>\n

But one moment will haunt West Ham perhaps more than many others and it is all down to Nuno.<\/p>\n

With Taty Castellanos playing well, Nuno inexplicably subbed him off for the woeful Pablo.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian forward is the son of Nuno\u2019s close friend and his agent is, you guessed it, Jorge Mendes.<\/p>\n

How West Ham paid \u00a320m for Pablo is anyone\u2019s guess but it sums up the club\u2019s woeful recruitment that has put them on the brink of the Championship.<\/p>\n

The substitution baffled West Ham fans. If Taty was to come off then Callum Wilson was the only option as far as they are concerned.<\/p>\n

But it also cost West Ham the game.<\/p>\n

Not only did Pablo squander a great chance in yet another terrible cameo where he showed a shocking lack of quality, but he was at fault for the Arsenal goal with lazy defending on the edge of the West Ham box.<\/p>\n

Throw in the fact Pablo fouled David Raya to cancel out Wilson\u2019s last gasp equaliser and it goes down as one of the worst substitutions in modern West Ham history.<\/p>\n

The substitution has effectively ended up costing the Hammers their Premier League lives.<\/p>\n

As Hammers News has revealed, Nuno will not be manager if the club are relegated.<\/p>\n

And bringing Pablo on when he did and what transpired as a result, Nuno deserves the axe anyway.<\/p>\n

When West Ham\u2019s board look at who they want to manage this great club in the second tier next season, they must find someone more positive than Nuno.<\/p>\n

He opted for Pablo\u2019s workrate over Wilson\u2019s attacking class once again and this time it proved fatal.<\/p>\n

A terrible call from a manager who has fallen short regardless of the mini revival in recent months.<\/p>\n
