Supercomputer has revised its numbers on the likelihood of Tottenham going down after their relegation rivals, West Ham, suffered a 1-0 loss to Arsenal at home on Sunday.

It is not often that Spurs fans cheer on an Arsenal side going for the Premier League title, but that is what many Tottenham faithful did on Sunday, as a result of the Lilywhites being involved in a relegation battle.

Arsenal won in controversial circumstances, with the Hammers’ stoppage-time equaliser being ruled out by VAR due to a foul on David Raya.

That result has significantly changed the battle for survival, with Spurs receiving a massive boost ahead of their clash at home against Leeds United this evening.

Tottenham’s relegation likelihood drops significantly after Arsenal’s win on Sunday

It was only two weeks ago that Opta’s Supercomputer put Tottenham’s chances of relegation at 58.57, with the data analysis platform considering West Ham the clear favourites to stay up.

However, the situation has now changed completely after the Lilywhites won at Villa Park and the Hammers lost against both Brentford and Arsenal.

After Nuno Espirito Santo’s men came out on the wrong side of the result on Sunday, Opta now gives them an 86.65 per cent chance of going down.

In stark contrast, the website gives Spurs just a 13.35 per cent chance of joining Burnley and Wolves in the Championship next season.

Opta predicts Tottenham will finish in 17th place with an estimated 41.35 points, while West Ham will finish in 18th with 38.57 points.

A failure to beat Leeds will leave Spurs in a tricky position

Roberto De Zerbi’s men now have a huge opportunity to go four points clear of West Ham and give themselves some breathing space in the fight for survival.

However, failure to beat Leeds will bring Tottenham right back into the race for relegation, given the fixtures that Spurs and West Ham have remaining.

Spurs go to Stamford Bridge next, and one can be sure that the Chelsea players and fans will be very motivated to hand the Lilywhites a big blow.

Given Tottenham’s poor record in West London, they would ideally want the pressure to be off for the London derby, and the only way that will happen is if they beat Leeds.

<div
