Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has advised the Blues to sign three new players who are all above the age of 30 to help their young squad next season. Under the ownership of BlueCo, Chelsea have adopted a policy of signing young players with potential on long-term deals. <\/p>\n
However, the lack of experience within their ranks has certainly hurt the Premier League giants. They are now ninth in the table and at serious risk of failing to qualify for European football next season.<\/p>\n

He first named John Stones as an ideal option. The 31-year-old Manchester City defender will leave the Etihad at the season.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/template><\/p>\n Robert Lewandowski is another player that would fit in at Stamford Bridge, according to Cole. The Barcelona forward is also coming to the end of his contract at Camp Nou and Cole is convinced he can play 35 games a season for Chelsea on a one-year deal and help players like Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.<\/p>\n Cole told The Sun<\/em>:<\/p>\n “I think of experienced players who can come into the squad and help out immediately. So you’re looking at who’s available – I’m thinking players like John Stones, (Robert) Lewandowski, he’s coming to the end of his contract, we need a centre-forward.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n “He probably fancies the Premier League and living in London, give him a year-long contract to come and play 35 games for us and help out Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. They need those types of players.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The footballer-turned-pundit also admitted that 35-year-old Jordan Henderson must also be considered by Chelsea. He pointed to how Brentford have improved since Henderson’s addition last summer. <\/p>\n Cole also reminded everyone how he had urged the Blues to fork out a move for Henderson last summer, but many people laughed at him for saying it.<\/p>\n He added: <\/p>\n “Jordan Henderson, I said Jordan Henderson last season and people laughed. Look at what Brentford Football Club have done, and nobody’s going, ‘hold on a minute’.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n “I know he’s not been blowing the doors off on Match of the Day. But he sets the tone, and he’s helped players around him, all the intangible things you can’t see. We spent all this money on young players, but they have no one around them.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Chelsea next face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday. It remains to be seen whether they can draw confidence from the 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League.<\/p>\n Calum McFarlane took over from Liam Rosenior on an interim basis before the FA Cup final. While Chelsea beat Leeds to make it to the final set to be held at Wembley, they also suffered a loss against Nottingham Forest under him.<\/p>\n There is no doubt that the Blues will look to bring in a high-profile coach this summer. Fulham’s Marco Silva, outgoing Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and Xabi Alonso, who parted ways with Real Madrid earlier this season, are believed to be among the names considered for the job.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
