West Ham United have been given fresh hope in the Premier League\u2019s relegation battle after Tottenham\u2019s draw with Leeds. <\/strong><\/p>\n

It looked as if a bad 24 hours or so for West Ham United was set to get worse when Spurs \u2013 the only team they can catch in the Premier League table \u2013 took a lead against Leeds on Monday night. <\/p>\n

A Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty, however, put the Yorkshire giants back on level terms and, in truth, Spurs were\u00a0perhaps lucky\u00a0to have even\u00a0emerged\u00a0with a point. <\/p>\n

While West Ham remain statistically the most likely team to get relegated, there are now only two points between them and their London rivals with two games to play for. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what the famous Opta supercomputer makes of it all. <\/p>\n

West Ham given 81.30% chance of relegation, Spurs 18.70%<\/h2>\n

While West Ham were given an 87.65% chance of relegation on Sunday following their controversial defeat to Arsenal, that has shifted somewhat. <\/p>\n

Indeed, Opta\u2019s analytics now rate their chances of joining Wolves and Burnley in being relegated at 81.30%. The likelihood of Spurs going down, meanwhile, is deemed to be 18.70%. <\/p>\n

Though clearly not ideal for West Ham that Spurs have moved a point ahead of them, things could have been a lot worse. <\/p>\n

To describe it as a boost feels somewhat strange given Spurs are actually further ahead than they were at the start of the latest round of fixtures, but supporters here in east London and beyond need to take all they can get right now. <\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s clash with Newcastle now takes on a very different complexion, particularly as Spurs play bitter Chelsea after that. <\/p>\n

If West Ham win their next game, they\u2019ll pull out of the relegation zone for a few hours at least. Not many would have predicted that to happen when the full-time whistle went on Sunday. <\/p>\n

Spurs are still in control of their own destiny but it\u2019s not over yet. Onto Sunday we go. <\/p>\n
