Chelsea have disappointed this season, but Xabi Alonso will still have a very good squad of players to work with if he becomes the club\u2019s new manager.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even if Chelsea fail to qualify for European football, it is thought that Alonso would still be open to managing at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

\n

While the transfer window is not open yet, the Blues have already secured the signings of Emanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda to strengthen their squad.<\/p>\n

Geovany Quenda could be ideal for Xabi Alonso at Chelsea<\/h2>\n

Quenda could prove to be a very useful asset to Alonso if the Spaniard uses his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation in west London.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old played as a wing-back under former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim at Sporting and thrived in the role.<\/p>\n

That is hardly a surprise, as he has the attributes to at least master the attacking element of the role. Quenda is quick, direct and can dribble.<\/p>\n

In games where Chelsea are facing low blocks, Quenda in the right wing-back position and Cole Palmer playing in the right half-space could cause a lot of problems.<\/p>\n

Of course, it all depends on whether Chelsea appoint Alonso and if he wants to use a back five. At Real Madrid, the Liverpool legend employed a back four, so he is not wedded to one system.<\/p>\n

But if Alonso does get the Chelsea job and decides he wants to use wing-backs, Quenda could be perfect.<\/p>\n

Quenda\u2019s best position is further forward, while he can also play on the opposite flank, so there are quite a few things the next Chelsea manager can do with him.<\/p>\n

Alejandro Garnacho has not been able to nail down the spot on the left wing this season, while Jamie Gittens has missed a lot of games because of injuries. It gives Quenda a shot at becoming the team\u2019s first-choice left winger next term.<\/p>\n

His development will no doubt be something to keep an eye on in the 2026\/27 campaign.<\/p>\n
