David Ornstein expects Chelsea to start conversations with representatives of candidates in the next few days and make an appointment early in the summer.<\/p>\n

Chelsea are once again searching for another head coach following the sacking of Liam Rosenior less than four months after he was appointed.<\/p>\n

Rosenior was dismissed following a run of five consecutive league defeats without scoring, and he\u2019s now the second head coach to leave Chelsea this season following the departure of Enzo Maresca.<\/p>\n

David Ornstein on Chelsea\u2019s head coach search<\/h2>\n

Calum McFarlane has been placed in interim charge for the remainder of the season, and it\u2019s understood the Blues aren\u2019t going to rush into a decision.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been reported there are seven or eight names under consideration, with Andoni Iraola thought to be an early front runner.<\/p>\n

Cesc Fabregas has played down speculation linking him with the job, and it\u2019s thought Chelsea\u2019s players want a head coach with a big personality. <\/p>\n

The sporting directors can\u2019t afford to get another appointment wrong, and Ornstein has provided an update on Chelsea\u2019s head coach hunt.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo concrete update on Chelsea\u2019s new manager search as this process is at an extremely early stage,\u201d he told NBC Sports as quoted on X.com.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI<\/span>t\u2019s most likely that potential candidates are in jobs at the moment and Chelsea want to show respect.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the next days I would expect conversations between Chelsea and representatives of candidates, and then in the weeks ahead they\u2019ll be asking clubs for permission to potentially speak to them and that process will accelerate towards the end of the season and I do expect an appointment early in the summer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t expect it to drag on too long and that may rule out some of the coaches going to be working at the World Cup. It\u2019s likely that it will come down to a handful of names as I understand it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
