The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, hints that the people of London should hope one team gets relegated out of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The battle for survival between the two London rivals remains very much alive, with just two points separating the 17th and 18th-placed sides going into the final two matches.<\/p>\n

While Opta\u2019s Supercomputer considers Spurs the big favourites to stay up, the situation could look very different if the Hammers win away at St James Park on Sunday, as that would drop Tottenham into the relegation zone ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

The battle for survival looks all set to go down to deadline day, and relegation will have devastating consequences for either club.<\/p>\n

Sadiq Khan says London would be hurt more by West Ham\u2019s relegation than Tottenham\u2019s<\/h2>\n

Sadiq Khan has now offered an explanation of which Premier League club London\u2019s residents should want to see join Burnley and Wolves in the Championship next season.<\/p>\n

He explained that since the London Stadium was given to West Ham free of cost, the taxpayers of the City would have a lot more to lose if the Hammers go down.<\/p>\n

Khan told The Sun: \u201cThe previous Mayor, Boris Johnson, did the worst deal that can be imaginable. As far as West Ham are concerned, it is the deal of the century where he basically gave them this amazing stadium for 100 years, rent-free.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, if West Ham are relegated, we, the taxpayers, City Hall, could lose up to \u00a32.5m a year. So what I say to Londoners who don\u2019t support Spurs is you should probably be cheering on West Ham, because the taxpayer will lose out if West Ham go down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why Spurs can be confident ahead of their trip to Chelsea<\/h2>\n

Tottenham have eight days off before they play Chelsea, and that time on the training ground will undoubtedly be valuable to Roberto De Zerbi as he continues putting his imprint on the side.<\/p>\n

Spurs can take heart from Chelsea\u2019s extremely poor form of late and in the knowledge that they will be much fresher, with the Blues set to be in FA Cup final action just three days before the London derby.<\/p>\n

Given the performances Tottenham have delivered under De Zerbi so far, there is no reason to think they cannot get a result at Stamford Bridge, despite the club\u2019s poor record at the stadium historically.<\/p>\n
