Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus believes Vincent Kompany would love to keep Nicolas Jackson at the Allianz Arena beyond his loan contract, but Chelsea’s value of their on-loan striker has priced the German champions out of a permanent move.<\/p>\n
Jackson completed a loan switch to the Munich-based outfit last summer, with Kompany’s team paying \u00a314.3million (loan fee) for his services. If Bayern wanted to make the deal permanent, they would have to pay Chelsea an additional \u00a356.2m – which would have been a \u00a370.5m total package. However, Bayern will not be paying such money, with Jackson set to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.<\/p>\n

He said: “Kompany is convinced of Jackson’s abilities and would have liked to keep him in Munich. But he’s too expensive. Kompany has made it clear internally that he would like to keep Jackson, but obviously at a certain price that Chelsea might not accept.”<\/p>\n
Chelsea’s squad is set for an upheaval this summer, with several expected to leave and come through the door at Stamford Bridge. A lot of this depends on who the new head coach, who is set to be given a big role in the club’s transfer plans this summer, ends up being.<\/p>\n
The Blues, sources say, are planning on having their new head coach through the door by the midway point of next month. There is a six-man shortlist of options to permanently succeed Liam Rosenior in west London, with Xabi Alonso, Filipe Luis, Cesc Fabregas, Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola all being named as candidates at the time of writing.<\/p>\n
Talks continue behind the scenes with Alonso, as Chelsea explore a deal for the former Real Madrid manager to take over at Stamford Bridge. It will be interesting to see what Alonso, if he is indeed appointed, wants to do with Jackson.<\/p>\n
Emanuel Emegha is set to arrive from Strasbourg in the summer after a pre-agreement was struck last year. Jackson, Emegha, Marc Guiu, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro are Chelsea’s prospective central striker options next season.
