Paul Scholes admits he is unsure where Cole Palmer would fit in the current Manchester United side if his former club made a move to sign the Chelsea midfielder this summer.<\/p>\n

Reports have claimed that Palmer has become disillusioned at Chelsea after a chaotic season saw Enzo Maresca walk away from Stamford Bridge at the start of the year.<\/p>\n

Last month, Palmer distanced himself from the reports by insisting that he had \u2018no plans\u2019 to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

However, Scholes believes Palmer would struggle to fit in United\u2019s current side with Bruno Fernandes still at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t see where he plays for United, that\u2019s the problem,\u2019 Scholes told talkSPORT.<\/p>\n

\u2018I see him in a similar position to Bruno, look, he\u2019s not going to be as infuential as Bruno has been in this team.<\/p>\n

\u2018Whether you can play him off the right side, cutting in with his left foot then yeah, look, he\u2019s a brilliant footballer, again, he\u2019s gone quiet but everyone at Chelsea has gone quiet, I\u2019m not quite sure what\u2019s happening at that club.<\/p>\n

\u2018As many good players you can get in your team then why not? He\u2019s a match winner on his day.\u2019<\/p>\n

Scholes, meanwhile, believes United need to reinforce the squad with two new central midfielders this summer and says Nottingham Forest\u2019s Elliot Anderson should be the club\u2019s top target.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think last summer was probably quite good, they sorted the forward line out, (Benjamin) Sesko is looking good as well, okay, he\u2019s picked up another injury, they might possibly need another forward,\u2019 Scholes said.<\/p>\n

\u2018I just think every time I watch United they get attacked through the middle so often, they get overran in that midfield area.<\/p>\n

\u2018Casemiro has had a little bit of a rebirth but he\u2019s never going to have the legs if you\u2019re going to want to compete at the top end of the Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u2018And I also think they need one or two centre-backs who are a little bit more physical.<\/p>\n

\u2018But definitely that area of the pitch, the middle of the pitch, somebody with Kobbie (Mainoo), we know how clever Kobbie is, Kobbie can play the game in his brain, legs aren\u2019t a massive thing for him, as long as you\u2019ve got someone who can play that position really well next to him.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think they might need two of them. You can about Anderson, (Sandro) Tonali, (Adam) Wharton, they might need two of those three, of two top quality midfield players just to go into that area to try to get control of games.\u2019<\/p>\n

Asked if Anderson would be his first choice, Scholes replied: \u2018I think it would.<\/p>\n

\u2018I really liked him when he was at Newcastle. Well, Newcastle had to sell him because of the PSR stuff. But what I\u2019ve seen him of him has been nothing short of brilliant really.<\/p>\n

\u2018What he\u2019s done for Forest has been really good, in the Europa League, he\u2019s still got to go to that next level, he\u2019s done it with England, well, England games are very hard to gauge because I don\u2019t think they\u2019re playing the best competition until they get to the World Cup when those bigger games come and we\u2019ll get a better idea.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019ll still have to test himself in the Champions League, but he looks to me like he\u2019d be able to handle it. Absolutely no problem.<\/p>\n

\u2018But as I say, I think one or two will be needed, not just the one. But Anderson and Mainoo, I think I\u2019d be happy with that for the start of next season.\u2019<\/p>\n
