Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has not held back when discussing what his old side should do with some of their players this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea need a bit of a rebuild after a disastrous Premier League campaign. They sit ninth in the table, ending their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.<\/p>\n

\n

As of now, they do not have a permanent manager either after sacking Liam Rosenior, though Xabi Alonso is in contention to take over.<\/p>\n

Jason Cundy tells Chelsea to sell Jamie Gittens<\/h2>\n

As part of a revamp at Stamford Bridge, Cundy would have no problem with Chelsea offloading Jamie Gittens despite the club only signing him last summer.<\/p>\n

Speaking on talkSPORT, the 56-year-old said: \u201cI have the same sympathy that I have with Liam (Delap), not been able to get himself going. I mean, I don\u2019t know how many games he\u2019s played but if he\u2019s got to double figures, I can\u2019t remember them. I remember the goal in the League Cup away at Wolves.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have sympathy, he\u2019s had his own injury problems. I think those wide areas do need some attention, but he\u2019d be one that I would make way for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The wide positions have been a major issue for Chelsea of late, with Gittens not being the only winger out injured.<\/p>\n

Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho all missed the 1-1 draw with Liverpool last weekend because of injuries.<\/p>\n

Estevao is set to miss the World Cup because of his hamstring problem in a hugely disappointing development for the young Brazilian.<\/p>\n

Jamie Gittens deserves another season at Stamford Bridge<\/h2>\n

As Cundy touched on, Gittens has missed a lot of games this term because of injury. In total, he has only made 16 appearances in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Bearing that in mind, it would be quite harsh for Chelsea to sell their \u00a348m investment already. Gittens deserves more time, especially considering what he is capable of doing.<\/p>\n

It was only a Carabao Cup tie against a Wolverhampton Wanderers side who have been relegated, but Gittens was unplayable that night.<\/p>\n

He scored what could easily win Chelsea\u2019s Goal of the Season award and provided two assists.<\/p>\n

Gittens is a more skilful dribbler than Garnacho and can play on both wings. Garnacho has had a full season but has not convinced, so if anyone should be sacrificed in the next transfer window, it should probably be him and not his teammate.<\/p>\n
