Journalist Ben Jacobs has put out some pretty positive news around a possible Xabi Alonso to Chelsea move.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Although the news is not directly talking about Chelsea, at this point at least, what Jacobs is reporting is only going to help Chelsea\u2019s attempts to land Alonso as their new head coach this summer after sacking Liam Rosenior a few weeks back now.<\/p>\n

Alonso is heavily linked with Chelsea right now, with all the major outlets in agreement that he is their main target that they want to bring in, and the club have been speaking with him about the role recently.<\/p>\n

We are waiting on more updates on that situation directly soon, but one concern is that Alonso is a former Liverpool player, and many believe he would love to manage there \u2013 this could throw a spanner in the works for Chelsea IF Liverpool sacked Arne Slot. But it doesn\u2019t look like they will\u2026<\/p>\n

GMS senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs said: \u201cI don\u2019t even think this narrative of Liverpool reassessing in the summer necessarily has that much credence regarding Arne Slot\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe position, speaking to Liverpool sources, is clear and has been for quite some time, that Liverpool and FSG back Arne Slot and they\u2019ve got a big summer ahead, and this idea that they\u2019re going to have a review at the end of the season and may U-turn on that position is downplayed by sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat now can change between today and the end of the season? Liverpool are highly likely to get Champions League football, that\u2019s the best they can do, and it\u2019s been clear for quite some time, so any review doesn\u2019t need to wait until the summer. There\u2019s ongoing dialogue and feedback, and Arne Slot is part of the summer planning, and it\u2019ll be a huge U-turn, an unexpected situation, if FSG and Liverpool\u2019s leadership team suddenly get to the summer and go, now the season\u2019s ended, we\u2019ve got a different perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n
