The battle for Premier League survival has received some Royal attention after Prince William declared who he wants to stay up out of West Ham and Spurs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

West Ham\u00a0and bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur are in a straight relegation shootout heading into the final two games of the Premier League season.<\/p>\n

The Hammers looked dead and buried after the harsh 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, especially with Spurs playing Leeds at home 24 hours later.<\/p>\n

But Tottenham breathed new life into West Ham\u2019s survival hopes as they were fortunate to escape with a 1-1 draw.<\/p>\n

Prince William reveals he wants Spurs to stay up over West Ham<\/h2>\n

That means Nuno Espirito Santo\u2019s\u00a0side now know victory at Newcastle on Sunday will see them climb out of the drop zone and back above Tottenham with a game to go.<\/p>\n

Spurs then have to go to bitter rivals Chelsea, where they have a terrible record.<\/p>\n

West Ham end the season with a home game against Leeds while Tottenham entertain David Moyes\u2019 European-chasing Everton.<\/p>\n

West Ham\u2019s relegation odds are higher as things stand but that will change drastically if Nuno\u2019s side can get a positive result at Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Debate has raged over who will be the team to drop into the Championship.<\/p>\n

Many fans of other Premier League clubs have voiced their backing for West Ham, hoping Tottenham will be the ones to go.<\/p>\n

The general consensus as to why is largely due to a perceived arrogance and delusion at the size of the club and their place among the elite.<\/p>\n

Although the fact Tottenham would be more of a threat to the European places long-term than West Ham would also undoubtedly be a factor.<\/p>\n

Now one very high profile football fan has had his say on who he wants to survive.<\/p>\n

Prince William goes against grandmother Queen Elizabeth\u2019s beloved Hammers<\/h2>\n

Former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was appointed a CBE in the New Year Honours list for his services to charity and the community.<\/p>\n

When receiving his honour this week, Levy met Prince William, perhaps the world\u2019s most high profile Aston Villa fan.<\/p>\n

And Prince William revealed who he wants to stay up out of West Ham and Spurs.<\/p>\n

It seems the Prince has gone against his grandmother, the great Queen Elizabeth II, because he told Levy he wants Tottenham to stay up not West Ham.<\/p>\n

To rub salt in West Ham wounds, Levy revealed he thanked Prince William for Aston Villa\u2019s part in helping Tottenham Hotspur secure a crucial win earlier this month when Unai Emery caused controversy by making seven changes to his side. <\/p>\n

\u201cI thanked him for allowing us (Spurs) to beat Aston Villa when we played them a few weeks ago,\u201d Levy told the press in a rare interview at Windsor Castle, as broadcast by Sky Sports News.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wished us luck the rest of the season, very much hoping that Tottenham survive in the Premier League.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Queen Elizabeth II would have made of her grandson\u2019s statement on the Premier League relegation battle would be interesting.<\/p>\n

West Ham have a long and illustrious list of famous and celebrity fans.<\/p>\n

None more famous than her Majesty the Queen, who passed away in 2022.<\/p>\n

West Ham played a European game hours after the Queen\u2019s death was announced and supporters paid a stirring tribute to her by replacing a planned minute\u2019s silence with applause and several renditions of God Save The Queen and chants of \u2018She\u2019s one of our own\u2019.<\/p>\n

Queen Elizabeth II opened West Ham\u2019s redeveloped West Stand at their former Boleyn Ground home in 2002.<\/p>\n

The stadium was named after Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII, who was Queen between 1533 to 1536. The ground may now be gone but the famous pub bearing the same name endures to this day.<\/p>\n

The Queen\u2019s visit in May 2002 as part of her Golden Jubilee was no publicity stunt from the Hammers. That was one particular Royal duty the Queen would have relished having become a West Ham fan long before then.<\/p>\n

While nobody is suggesting the Queen was glued to the TV watching every Hammers game \u2013 as much as we\u2019d like to think that might have been the case \u2013 it is an immense source of pride for West Ham to know Elizabeth the Great was one of us.<\/p>\n

Some sources have claimed that the much-loved monarch has backed West Ham United since as far back as the 1960s.<\/p>\n

Her allegiance is believed to date back to her admiration for West Ham\u2019s most successful manager, the late Ron Greenwood. She met him several times and awarded him the CBE in 1981. The Queen has also always had huge respect for the spirit of East Enders, who were repeatedly bombed by the Germans during the Blitz.<\/p>\n

Her Majesty apparently revealed her love for West Ham when overhearing a staff member say he supported bitter rivals Millwall.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Queen has never wanted people to know who she supports because she wants to be seen as neutral,\u201d a Windsor Castle source told\u00a0The Daily Mirror in 2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut she gave up her secret after overhearing one of her staff members saying he was a Millwall fan and was talking to another member of staff about the derby between West Ham and their arch rivals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were quite shocked \u2013 after all, she\u2019s not exactly your typical West Ham fan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking following Wednesday\u2019s investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle Levy said he felt \u201cemptiness\u201d at Tottenham\u2019s league position, but insisted he remained \u201coptimistic that we will remain in the Premier League\u201d over West Ham.<\/p>\n

Asked if he saw any signs the club would end up in a relegation scrap, he added \u201cnever, no, not in a million years\u201d.<\/p>\n
