Chelsea agreed a deal with Xabi Alonso a week ago to become their next manager according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.<\/p>\n

It was reported Chelsea had reached an agreement in principle with the 44-year-old after Saturday\u2019s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley.<\/p>\n

Chelsea will reportedly officially announce Alonso on Sunday morning, and the Spaniard has agreed a four year contract until 2030.<\/p>\n

Chelsea agreed deal for Xabi Alonso last week<\/h2>\n

Alonso was Chelsea\u2019s preferred candidate, and it\u2019s a real coup for the Blues to get him through the door, with the players said to be excited by his arrival.<\/p>\n

Andoni Iraola was thought to be second choice, and unlike Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior, Chelsea have handed Alonso the title of manager rather than head coach.<\/p>\n

Alonso will officially begin work on July 1st 2026, and there\u2019s a chance he could be at Chelsea\u2019s final home game of the season against Tottenham on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Chelsea clearly moved quickly to get the deal agreed with Alonso, but Solhekol has reported a deal was actually agreed well before Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were actually told a week ago that Chelsea had agreed a deal for Xabi Alonso to become their new manager,\u201d he told Sky Sports News as quoted on X.com.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alonso is arguably the best appointment Chelsea could have made, and it\u2019ll be very interesting to see how he does.<\/p>\n
