Chelsea have reached an agreement with Xabi Alonso to become their manager.<\/p>\n

Alonso has accepted a four-year contract after positive talks with Chelsea\u2019s hierarchy, ending the club\u2019s search for a permanent successor to Liam Rosenior.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old travelled to London earlier this week to finalise discussions and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to take charge at Stamford Bridge despite interest from elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Chelsea identified Alonso as their leading target from the beginning of the process.<\/p>\n

While Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola was also admired internally, Alonso quickly emerged as the preferred option due to his reputation, tactical profile and ability to command authority.<\/p>\n
