{"id":9858,"date":"2026-05-18T01:22:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T01:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=9858"},"modified":"2026-05-18T01:22:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T01:22:20","slug":"anfield-hero-would-love-to-manage-liverpool-as-chelsea-reach-stunning-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=9858","title":{"rendered":"Anfield hero \u2018would love to manage\u2019 Liverpool as Chelsea reach stunning \u2018decision\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Chelsea owners BlueCo are \u201cgoing to tweak the system\u201d for Xabi Alonso as the former Liverpool midfielder looks set to take charge of the Blues, but Guillem Balague has claimed that the former Real Madrid boss would still love to manage at Anfield one day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alonso is on the verge of becoming the new Chelsea manager<\/strong>despite strong links with Liverpool over the past few months.<\/p>\n<p>Ever since the former Liverpool midfielder parted company with Real Madrid in January 2026, <strong>Alonso has been linked with the Liverpool managerial role<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Arne Slot is in charge of <strong>Liverpool<\/strong> and led the Reds to the Premier League title last season.<\/p>\n<p>However, Liverpool are still not guaranteed a place in the Premier League top five this season.<\/p>\n<p>Many Liverpool fans are fed up with the Dutchman and want a change, but the club\u2019s owners, <strong>Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are sticking with Slot<\/strong> as the first-team manager.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Liverpool must sack Slot before Chelsea appoint Alonso<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well-known and well-respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has revealed that <strong>Alonso <\/strong>has personally told him previously that he would love to manage Liverpool one day.<\/p>\n<p>However, with Liverpool not sacking Slot, the 44-year-old is now set to take charge of <strong>Chelsea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Balague, Chelsea owners, BlueCo, have decided to give Alonso \u201cmore voice\u201d, something that they have not done with recent managers.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf\" image-id=\"WmOBW4vbOEa0\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Chelsea owners make Xabi Alonso concession<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Balague wrote on <em>X <\/em>at 12:39pm on May 16: \u201cXabi Alonso had a plan when he was about to leave Real Sociedad B (Sanse).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGo to a top European side with ambition.
