If Moyes’ Everton cannot beat Spurs, West Ham will be playing in the Championship next season, regardless of what happens in their game against Leeds.

However, Cole has offered Hammers supporters a glimmer of hope following their disappointing 3-1 defeat to Newcastle.

He believes the great escape could still happen, after which Moyes would deserve a statue alongside Bobby Moore.

“Before we even get to the last day of the season, Chelsea have to beat Spurs. Then I do think West Ham will win the final game of the season,” Cole explained.

“You know what it’s like, those players on the coach back (from Newcastle) are thinking, ‘We’re down.’

“If you’re dead and you’re given a lifeline, you’re coming alive like the Undertaker. ‘Whatever happens, we’re not messing up again. We’re going to beat Leeds on the last day of the season.’

“I don’t know if West Ham are 2-0 up against Leeds and White Hart Lane is 0-0, and the Moyesiah is there…

“Imagine that, a statue of him. If he produced that for West Ham, they would put his statue right next to Bobby Moore. You have to keep positive.”
