Chelsea’s potential 4-2-3-1 under Cesc Fabregas

At Como, Fabregas has mostly used a 4-2-3-1 formation this season, the same as Rosenior and Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.

Given the players in Chelsea’s squad, you would expect the 38-year-old to go with that at Stamford Bridge.

The club’s owners will want to give him the best chance of success, meaning that a different goalkeeper could be added to the ranks after all of the mistakes that Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have made this term. That man could be Mike Penders, who is currently on loan at Strasbourg from Chelsea.

In terms of actual new signings, Chelsea have been linked with the likes of RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

It has been reported that Wharton is Chelsea’s primary midfield target amid speculation that Enzo Fernandez could leave west London.

Following Rosenior’s dismissal, Chelsea supporters have been discussing whom they would like to see replace him on TalkingPoints.

Being a fan favourite during his time as a player at Stamford Bridge and amid his success at Como, unsurprisingly, supporters have been calling for the club to appoint Fabregas.

One Chelsea fan simply said: “Fabregas or (Xabi) Alonso”. Fabregas’ former Spain teammate is available after being sacked by Real Madrid in January.

From Fabregas’ point of view, he would be taking a huge risk by ditching Como for Chelsea. The environment at his old club is just not right at this moment and is not helping anyone to thrive.

Fabregas should probably wait a year or two before accepting a job that is available every other season. There is no reason for him to rush.
