Bukayo Saka made his first start of the 2026 World Cup and helped produce the breakthrough England needed in their 2-0 win against Panama.
The Three Lions ensured they topped their group and set up a last-16 meeting with DR Congo after picking up three points, but just as they had in their previous game against Ghana, they had to work hard to break down a stubborn defence.
But Bukayo made the difference when his 62nd-minute corner found Jude Bellingham who tucked the ball home to hand his side the lead, one which was doubled five minutes later when Harry Kane headed home a cross from the Real Madrid man.
On the occasion of his 52nd cap, Bukayo had exited the fray just before the all-important second goal, getting 65 minutes under his belt before giving way to clubmate Noni Madueke, who won his 14th.
He was joined on the field by Ebere Eze in the 71st minute for his 19th international appearance, while Declan Rice watched the action from the bench as he was rested by Thomas Tuchel ahead of the knockout stages.
England will now be back in action on Wednesday when they head to Atlanta to face DR Congo.
