Alejandro Garnacho transfer ‘approved’ as Man United await bumper payday

Manchester United could be set for double transfer windfall as Mason Greenwood and Alejandro Garnacho attract interest. Despite the two players leaving Old Trafford in the past, United chiefs moved to secure their assets for the future by including clauses as part of their sales.
Now, the pair are attracting interest at their respective clubs. The Englishman is the subject of speculation over a Marseille departure, while Garnacho’s future at Stamford Bridge looks unclear just 12 months after making the shock move to Chelsea. According to reports, namely from Il Messaggero, Greenwood and Garnacho are two players wanted by Serie A side AS Roma.
Gian Piero Gasperini is a year into his tenure at the Stadio Olimpico and is said to want two starters behind Donyell Malen. Garnacho and Greenwood are both said to be on the list of targets.
As part of Greenwood’s move to Marseille, a significant sell-on was included in the deal, with reports suggesting that United could earn 40% to 50% of the transfer fee back.
Reports have suggested that Roma are prepared to table a bid around £38.5million for Greenwood but the Ligue 1 side are rumoured to be hoping to hold out for €55million (£47m).
The potential suitor would need to convince Greenwood to leave the south of France. Speaking in May, he said: “This season has been difficult at times for us as a team, especially in the last few months But, individually, I think I’ve had a good season.
“There are some incredible players in this Team of the Year, so it’s nice for me to get this award. Ligue 1 is an amazing league. We play some incredible games and, to my mind, it’s one of the best leagues I have played in. I hope I will be able to stay put here.”

Garnacho bitterly left Old Trafford as he forced his way into a move to the capital last summer and as part of the £40million deal, a 10% sell-on clause was included in the deal.
football.london reported this week that Chelsea are considering a sale for the Argentina forward this summer. The Londoners are open to selling the 22-year-old after an underwhelming debut season at Stamford Bridge.
There is interest in the United academy graduate, but Chelsea will only consider a permanent exit. Garnacho still has six years remaining on his deal in West London, but the attacker has so far failed to cement a regular starting berth during a topsy-turvy campaign for the Londoners.
It is still the early stages of Garnacho’s potential exit, as no club-to-club talks have taken place over the winger.
