A look at the latest transfer headlines surrounding Arsenal

Arsenal are set to move on from their pursuit of Morgan Rogers after Chelsea hijacked their pursuit. The Gunners had been linked with the Aston Villa attacker for some time but the Blues have shocked their city rivals by jumping in on the signing.

Rogers will sign a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge and become a club-record acquisition for a fee of £117million. Mikel Arteta will move on from this transfer failure and keep pushing for more signings.

Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier have already signed permanent deals with Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi both linked. The Gunners have also been connected with a surprise move for a £110m star who turned down Liverpool.

Here, Mirror Football has the latest coming out of the Emirates Stadium.

Rogers’ reasoning for Arsenal snub

Rogers was given three simple reasons to join Chelsea over Arsenal, despite being heavily linked with the Gunners. The Athletic reported that the midfielder opted for the Blues due to the exciting project that had been sold to him by the club.

As well as this, Xabi Alonso’s presence at Stamford Bridge was another way that Chelsea convinced him to snub Arsenal. It’s also understood that the Blues have informed Rogers that they intend to utilise him out on the left wing next season, which ended up being the cherry on top of his impending move.

The 23-year-old is expected to undergo a medical to become a Chelsea player this week, with the club paying Aston Villa £117m for his services. This means that Rogers has surpassed the Blues’ record signing fee, which was previously Enzo Fernandez’s £107m arrival in 2023.

Gunners eye £110m hijack

Arsenal are moving on from their failed pursuit of Rogers and could instead hijack Paris Saint-Germain’s move for Yan Diomande. The RB Leipzig winger had been heavily linked with Liverpool earlier in the transfer window, with the Reds submitting a £86.8m bid.

However, it was said that Diomande was keen on moving to France instead, with Leipzig valuing him at a whopping £110m (€130m). The 19-year-old has agreed personal terms with PSG with L’Equipe reporting that a fee is being negotiated.

According to Fabrizio Romano, though, the Gunners enquired with his agents in recent days to see if there was a chance of signing him. The Gunners would have to fork out a hefty amount to secure the teenager but may be planning a more forceful approach after losing out on Rogers to Chelsea.
