Chelsea receive official bid from rival Premier League club for Alejandro Garnacho: Reports

Aston Villa have reportedly submitted an official bid for wantaway Chelsea attacker Alejandro Garnacho, who migjht have already played his last for the Blues.

Garnacho, 22, scored eight times and assisted four times in 43 games across competitions last season, having arrived from Manchester United last summer. One of those goals and all four assists came in 24 games in the Premier League, where the Blues finished a lowly 10th to miss out on European football.

While the Argentine’s contract at Stamford Bridge till 2032, Garnacho looks increasingly likely to leave this sunmmer. As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Villa are set to have initial talks with the player. Unai Emery’s side are set to have an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

Garnacho wasn’t a part of Argentina’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, where the holders’ title defence ended with a 1-0 extra time defeat to European champions Spain in New Jersey on Sunday (July 19).

Ferran Torres scored the game’s only goal in extra time – thanks to an assist from fellow substitute Nico Williams – as Luis de la Fuente’s side became the first side to complete the European Championship-World Cup double twice. They first accomplished the feat in 2010, beating the Netherlands 1-0 in extra time in the title match.

Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez was the only Chelsea player who featured in the title match of the recently concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, which ended on Sunday.
