Former Premier League winger Micky Gray has urged Manchester United to launch a move for Chelsea and Arsenal target Cristian Romero. The Argentina star is looking to leave Tottenham this summer.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Gary said that Manchester United need a top defender and Romero fits the bill. He stated that the Argentine will form a great partnership with Lisandro Martinez, as they did at the FIFA World Cup and said:

“I would take him to Man United in a heartbeat. The chance to put Martinez and Romero back together as a pairing, whether you love or hate them, you know what you’re getting from them. And I think with Michael and his coaching staff, if you can just calm him down a little bit, there’s no doubt when he’s got quality, he’s a great centre half.”

“Whether Man United look in that position or not, I don’t know, because obviously they’ve got Heaven and Yoro coming through. But he’s a very talented player. He’s been to back-to-back World Cup finals. He’s got Premier League experience, still at a decent age.” (via Metro)

Talking about the Arsenal and Chelsea target, he added that the defender does have disciplinary issues on the pitch, but brings a lot more on the positive side for teams and said:

“The value is also what he brings in the dressing room. Let’s not forget World Cup winner, World Cup finalist. He was involved in the Europa League when they beat Manchester United. You might look at his age and in his character, his personality, and what obviously he didn’t bring to Tottenham last season, the red cards, as you just mentioned that before. But he brings a lot more than that for me.”

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to add a defender this summer, and Gary added that the Arsenal and Chelsea target is the ideal one.

Chelsea and Arsenal target to snub Manchester United if they move

Cristian Romero has reportedly decided that he wants to leave Tottenham this summer. He has been linked with several clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona, while Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have been touted to keeping tabs.

However, he is reportedly set to join Inter Milan this summer. The Serie A side have agreed personal terms with the defender and are pushing to reach an agreement over fees with Tottenham, who are open to selling the defender for the right price.
