Serie A giants keen on signing Chelsea defender, Blues asking for €30m to sanction sale: Reports

Serie A outfit Napoli are interested in a deal for Chelsea outcast Benoit Badiashile, with the Blues reportedly asking for €30 million for his services. Xabi Alonso’s side are looking to lighten their squad after making several additions for the 2026-27 season.

A report from Foot Mercato (via Get Football News France) has revealed that Chelsea are prepared to sell Badiashile to Napoli this summer. The Partenopei want the French centre-back to bolster their backline this summer ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Benoit Badiashile has been informed by Chelsea that he does not feature in their plans for the future, having been left out of their pre-season squad under Alonso. The 25-year-old did not train with the team at Cobham and was left out of the squad that is in Australia for their pre-season tour.

Napoli are keen on the former AS Monaco man, who has been at Stamford Bridge since the winter of 2023. The Serie A giants want the Frenchman to join their squad after the injury to Alessandro Buongiorno, who underwent a surgery to repair a damaged meniscus in his knee last week.

Badiashile’s time at Stamford Bridge has been plagued by injuries, with the left-footed centre-back playing just 71 times in three-and-a-half seasons at the club. He played only 16 times for the club last season due to a series of injuries that troubled him.

Chelsea are prepared to cash in on the defender, who cost them €38 million when they brought him in. They have already reportedly completed the signing of his compatriot Maxence Lacroix to beef up their backline.

Chelsea overcome Western Sydney Wanderers in pre-season opener

Chelsea claimed a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Australian outfit Western Sydney Wanderers at the Accor Stadium in the Sydney Super Cup. The Blues began their pre-season tour in the best way possible by claiming the win.

Xabi Alonso’s side scored twice in the first half through Dastan Satpayev and Dario Essugo, with their opponents also scoring twice in the first 45 minutes. They scored four more goals in the second half, with Joao Pedro claiming three goals and an assist off the bench, and Jamie Gittens adding a goal.

The Blues will face Tottenham Hotspur in their second game of the Sydney Super Cup later this week before proceeding to Hong Kong. They will also visit Indonesia as part of their pre-season tour before returning to London for their first league game against Fulham next month.
