£120M Rated Midfielder Could Still Be ‘Targeted’ By Man City Even If Bouaddi Signs

Man City are still considering whether to make a move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the 25-year-old “could yet be targeted” after a move for Ayyoub Bouaddi is wrapped up.

Having already splashed out £116m on Elliot Anderson, it was assumed that an £85m outlay on Bouaddi would end the club’s pursuit of Fernandez, but that may not be the case.

Rodri’s future could influence Man City’s plans

Real Madrid have now formally approached the Cityzens about signing the Spanish international.

Rodri is very keen on moving to the Bernabeu, and he has stalled on signing a new contract in anticipation of an approach from Real.

Finding an agreement on the transfer fee is expected to be a major stumbling block, with City set to demand more than the €50m (£43m) to €60m (£51m) that Real are willing to pay for the former Ballon d’Or winner

Some have assumed that Bouaddi would take Rodri’s place in the squad, but TEAMtalk report that another departure from City could lead to a third expensive addition in the middle of the park.

Fernandez is not available on the cheap

Chelsea have slapped a £120m asking price on the Argentinian international, and they are unlikely to give any discounts, with relations between the two clubs decidedly frosty following the controversy surrounding Enzo Maresca’s appointment.

Spending £321m on a new midfield trio would certainly be a massive statement if it does come to pass, but with the Bouaddi deal having not been finalised yet, it is best that fans do not get too far ahead of themselves.
