Mykhailo Mudryk hit with FOUR-YEAR doping ban as Chelsea star launches appeal

Mykhailo Mudryk’s has lodged an appeal against a four-year FA ban with his doping case now referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Chelsea winger was initially banned by the FA in December 2024 following a failed drugs test.
Having now submitted an appeal according to football.london, the matter has been passed to CAS with reports indicating that “written submissions” have been exchanged. A hearing is yet to be arranged but it is understood that Chelsea will allow the legal process to take it’s full course before deciding their next step.
The Ukrainian winger last pulled on a Blues shirt in November 2024 in the UEFA Conference League, before his time on the pitch was abruptly ended due to an “adverse finding in a routine urine test.”
At the time, an FA spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations.

“As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
Having been formally charged by the FA in June 2025, Mudryk has been awaiting the outcome of both the case and his appeal. He could face a ban of up to four years for breaching anti-doping regulations.
In a statement issued in 2024, Mudryk described the failed drug test as a “complete shock” and insisted he had “not done anything wrong.” Chelsea launched their own internal investigation and has refused to allow the 25-year-old to train alongside the first-team squad since the original suspension.
Mudryk arrived at Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023 in a deal worth up to £89million. Over the course of 73 appearances, the winger has netted 10 goals and laid on 11 assists.
Since his suspension, the 25-year-old has largely stayed out of the spotlight, training away from his current squad to maintain his fitness.
Both the FA and CAS have been contacted for comment on this matter.
