Chelsea star hit with loan rejection as Stamford Bridge return incoming
Nicolas Jackson is set for a fresh start at Chelsea this summer amid a likely return from Bayern Munich. Jackson’s Chelsea story became a pretty bizarre one, leading to an expensive loan in Bavaria.
The striker went from having a strong season with the Blues, helping them to a top four finish, to hitting a rough patch of form and receiving two red cards in the space of a couple of months.
Usually, a couple of red cards would mean little, but in Jackson’s case, he was made out to be a villain with disciplinary issues. Jackson wasn’t able to change that narrative, and Chelsea seemed to give in to it.

The result was Bayern getting a reliable deputy to Harry Kane, with Jackson scoring nine and assisting four, while Chelsea signed Liam Delap, who arguably is not ready to play for a club at the level of the Blues.
But while Jackson has been impressing with Bayern, it doesn’t look like he has done enough to win a permanent deal with the German club. Bayern have a £56.2million option to buy in the loan deal, and according to Sky Germany, the Bundesliga champions are increasingly likely to pass up the option.
Jackson is seen to have had a positive impact at Bayern, who are said to be happy with how the loan deal has gone, but they are not willing to commit the big money to complete a permanent deal, at least unless something changes, and that something is likely the pre-agreed fee.

The move could mean Jackson gets a fresh start with Chelsea, given he will be returning two managers later. During his Stamford Bridge absence, Chelsea have sacked Enzo Maresca, who fell out with Jackson, hired and sacked Liam Rosenior, and they will likely have a new manager in place by the time the striker returns to West London.
That means he may yet have a future at Chelsea, and it will be interesting to see if he gets another shot at being a Blues starter. Most will feel that the tandem of Joao Pedro and Jackson is better than the current tandem of Pedro and Delap.
Jackson has a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, under terms until 2033, so the Blues have no easy way out of the deal, at least unless a potential buyer comes knocking with a significant offer. Chelsea paid £32million to sign Jackson from Villarreal.
