Former Chelsea midfielder Deco is currently the sporting director of Barcelona, and has quietly been working on a plan to bring Joao Pedro to the Nou Camp.

In an underwhelming campaign for the Blues, Joao Pedro has been the shining light in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are hopeful they can build their attack around the Brazil international, even willing to sell a number of their other strikers to hand the keys to the former Brighton man.

Deco planning to sign Joao Pedro for Barcelona

His fantastic campaign has obviously seen him attract attention from a number of the world’s best clubs, with Barcelona mentioned as a possible landing spot.

Deco has identified Pedro as one of his top two candidates for the Spanish giants alongside Julian Alvarez, and according to Sport is discreetly hatching a plan to bring him in from Chelsea.

The report goes on to say that the sporting director believes he is physically suitable to feature in the Barcelona frontline, and has admired him since he made his Premier League debut.

Pedro couldn’t help but show his frustration after the latest defeat to Nottingham Forest, where his stunning goal put an end to the club’s nine-hour run of not scoring in the league.

Chelsea cannot afford to part ways with the Brazil international though, as they look to convince supporters that they should not completely lose confidence in the project.

MESSAGE TO BLUECO: Get Fabregas in and listen to JT! 👊

It just makes sense.

Chelsea’s stance on Joao Pedro

Chelsea’s transfer policy has been based around very few of their first team squad being seen as untouchable to other clubs.

The striker is as close as it comes though. Chelsea are currently not willing to part ways with Pedro, given the fact he signed a long contract with the club less than a year ago.

The underwhelming performances of Liam Delap since he joined the Blues have further enhanced the credentials of Pedro, given the fact they joined at the same time.

To many fans, the former Brighton man has exceeded Cole Palmer in importance to the squad, and is instead seen alongside the likes of Reece James and Moises Caicedo.
