How do you feel when you see the next generation of players coming through?

It’s always nice to see, how in due time everyone comes. It’s like a flow of water. It’s good to see players coming through now that have a lot of ability. That’s how it starts. A player has ability to get noticed, and then it’s how you grow as a person, how you grow as a leader, as a team-mate, as a person, so it’s good to see the first steps.

Do the players who come through now ask you for advice?

Yeah, if they have any queries or questions, I’m always here, and players have come to me asking questions about how to navigate certain things. I’m always there to help.

How close are you with what’s going on in the Age groups at Hale End now?

I love to keep tabs on who’s coming through, because I love to watch football, and youth football’s a big part of the next generation. So I try my best to keep tabs on them. Ethan’s brother Emerson is coming through. He’s a very intelligent player.

Finally, Myles, how are you feeling going into this crucial part of the season?

I think this is the calmest we’ve been as a team, collectively. We really understand the importance of unity and togetherness. We have each other to rely on, with the fans as well obviously, but we feel so connected as a team and we just take every day as it comes. We want to make the most of every day so we can bring joy to the fans, what they deserve.

It’s only big games now, isn’t it? Is that what inspires you? Is that what you like?

Since I was a child, for me personally, I lived for these moments. If at the start of the season we had the opportunity to lift a title, and the opportunities that we’re in now, we would take it. So we have to thrive in these moments. We have the team, the coaching staff – it’s all in our hands.

How would you sum up the mood in the dressing room at the moment?

I’d say readiness. I feel like we’re ready. The time is now. It’s here. There’s nothing really more to say.
