How much money Everton could be due if Newcastle United hold firm on Anthony Gordon price tag
The Blues, as revealed by the ECHO, are due 15% of any profit the Magpies make on the England winger. Now they have set their valuation of him.
Anthony Gordon could be on the move again this summer
Everton would be in line for a windfall of at least £4m if Newcastle United hold firm on their valuation of Anthony Gordon.
The Blues academy graduate will enter another summer as the subject of strong links to a move away from St James’ Park, with Bayern Munich touted as the most likely destination for the 25-year-old.
The existence of a clause inserted within the sale of Gordon to the north east in January 2023 is proving important as Newcastle prepare to deal with interest in the England international.

As first reported by the ECHO at the start of last monthEverton would be due 15% of any profit made by Newcastle on the sale of Gordon, a factor that appears to be pushing up his price tag. With that in mind, Newcastle’s starting position is a demand of at least £74m for a player that cost them an initial £40m, with a further £5m in add-ons, according to ECHO sister-paper the Chronicle.
If those add-ons have been met, that £74m threshold would give Newcastle a £29m profit, paving the way for Everton to receive £4.35m from a deal of that scale. If they have not, the fee would rise above £5m for the Blues.
Whether such an agreement materialises, Newcastle’s insistence they will only do business on their terms should work in Everton’s favour.
Scarred by the farce of Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool last summer, following a close season in which the club repeatedly argued he was not for sale, the club wants to stand firm on its star players this year.
CEO David Hopkinson said back in April: “We haven’t got an overall strategy with regards players out, necessarily. We think through what players might or might not want to do this summer. But if an Isak-like scenario presents itself again, any player under contract is going to leave on our terms and we’re going to maximise the opportunity that might represent for the club.”
Hopkinson has previously stated Newcastle must sell-to-buy this summer and so the prospect of Gordon departing – and what his fee could mean to Eddie Howe’s ability to do business – is a distinct possibility. Newcastle have sought to play down claims this week that Gordon has agreed personal terms with Bayern, however.
