Joe Hart claims there’s only one player at Chelsea who’s ‘dying’ for the badge right now
The attitude of Chelsea’s squad has been questioned for years now. Many feel Liam Rosenior’s sacking was because they downed tools, and Joe Hart thinks only one player is playing for the badge.
BlueCo are now paying for being far too involved in the day-to-day running of the club. Their work in the transfer window, their trigger-happy approach to managers, is now coming back to bite the owners.
CHELSEA PLAYER OF THE SEASON – FINAL!
Chelsea look as though they may struggle to qualify for any form of European competition at the end of the season. A win against Man City in the FA Cup final papers over the cracks, with a very thin plaster.
Even that is unlikely. The problems are enormous at Chelsea, but actually, there are a few simple fixes. BlueCo must take a step back, bring a good manager in, and allow the new manager to sign his players.
Joe Hart sees only one player playing for the Chelsea badge
Can all the blame be levelled at BlueCo? Or can it be placed on the players’ shoulders, and their attitude? Certainly, there is a feeling that the players never took to Rosenior, and it resulted in the way it did.
One player even nicknamed Rosenior ‘the supply teacher’. BlueCo can be blamed for that because any leadership in the squad would immediately remove that attitude. But the players should back the boss.

Speaking on TNT Sports this week, Joe Hart thinks Chelsea’s players lack a connection with the club and only one player is actually playing for the badge. He thinks Reece James is the only one with a connection.
“But when you talk about salvation, you’ve got to want that salvation. In that Chelsea team, you don’t know who’s actually dying for the badge. Reece James, you can tell he’s a product of their academy.
“But the other players seem like they’ve got other things, other motivations going in their life, which we all do in football, nobody is perfect,” Hart said. Clearly, Hart thinks the problem is within the squad.
Some Chelsea players will feel Joe Hart’s criticism is harsh…
It is a big claim from Hart. Levi Colwill will certainly feel that he is playing for the badge. He has come back from a horrible injury and immediately returned to action against Liverpool, proving his worth.
Xabi Alonso just screams Chelsea manager 😍
Like James, a Chelsea academy product. But Hart’s comments do ring true when the likes of Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez speak publicly about wanting to leave and criticising the hierarchy.
This summer, we will learn more about which players actually want to play for the badge. James and Colwill are going nowhere; Moises Caicedo perhaps is in that bracket. But who else wants to stay put?
